     April 7, Barcelona

Saying goodbye to the van for awhile -- though long trips in the van can be tiring, really, flying is harder, with all the moves of baggage, and waiting around.

Morning in Milan found us re-packing things, to minimize overweight on the flights to Spain and back.

An uneventful trip took us to Barcelona -- Sala Bikini is the name of the club we're playing. Very nice place.
As usual, Pat finds a place to warm up with drum pad where he won't bother anybody...

Great audience tonight

     April 8, Mallorca

My first trip to Mallorca. Flight was delayed 3 hours, but at least I was able to update the web diary from the Barcelona airport.

We are staying right on the waterfront, and even with the flight delay and late arrival, there are a couple of hours to have a look around.

Very nice.

The venue is a nice theater

although power issues are what we suspect have caused some sound issues in our gear

no problems on my side of the stage

Good show.

Tomorrow will be a much longer travel day than today was. I'll try to remember and treasure my nice walk along the waterside in Mallorca!

     April 9, Pisa

I've mentioned before that there are these days on the road -- travelling looms in front of you, seeming endless.

We fly from Mallorca to Milan. Easyjet hasn't been too easy on us, with yesterday's delay ... today I got in a bit of trouble for taking a photo of the sign I found amusing; easy checkin - as we're hit with extra charge for bringing the instruments onboard.

In Milan we were met by a friend who had watched over the van while we were in Spain.

Dropped him off in Milan, and headed out for 3 more hours drive to Pisa.

We arrived a bit late for 6pm soundcheck, so went right to the venue and loaded in.

A little time before the show to walk around, before our 11pm show... but not much to see at that hour. And we won't see our hotel rooms until really late.

Charming dressing room!

Ready to go on...

And, as often happens on the road, the two hours of playing and sharing music with a great audience more than makes up for all the travelling

Nice as the show was, the club turned into a dance club immediately after we stopped playing, so signing cd's and talking with people was very difficult. And load-out even more so, with dancers between the stage and where we needed to take our gear.

So, at 2:40 am we arrived at our hotel for the night - early leave tomorrow for Genoa concert...
this is the road, for sure!

Time for a new page.
