     April 3, Trofarella

Another van drive to the Torino area, and a nice club, called Il Peocio, which we played last June.

So we know we'll have friends there to greet us, and we are also prepared for the decor, with cars, airplane propellers and record albums hanging on the walls!

With the gear needing to be carried downstairs, this is one of those gigs where Pat unpacks the drum gear outside and brings in the pieces he'll need, not cases.

View from our nearby hotel room leaves no doubt we're in Italy!

Not that we'll be spending much time at the hotel - showtime is 11:30 pm!

A late night, but lots of fun. We'll hope to come back here again next time we tour in Italy.

Next up for us, another van trip of a few hours, and show near Verona.

April 4, Lugagnano

In Lugagnano, it's nice to be greeted at the hotel by a friendly face!

The venue, called Il Giardono, is one we haven't played before

(posters vary at each gig ... I prefer them to say "Stick Men", not my name, and to have current photos... but we don't have much control over that -- this is the first to say Tony Levin e Pat Mastelotto trio".

An interesting room...

It's the ground floor of a house...

with quite a tilt to the driveway...

I envisioned the van rolling over into the club, but all was fine.

My friend Mike, and his band, The Ex KGB soundchecked - they were the opening act tonight.

and for a second, I thought I saw Peter Gabriel over at the bar!

But no... that was the club owner!

And it was a great audience that soon filled the place...

Pat takes over some of the rapping in Soup and I have a sec to shoot photos!

Not one of my better band bow photos, as I missed me and Pat, but you can see that Markus is happy with the show!

After the show, a kind (and talented) man gave me a little drawing he made of the band playing

and a photo with both bands and our friend Michele from Venice

So ended another special day and night on the road.

Tomorrow we'll have a 'day off' ... driving about 6 hours to Nice, where we can have a free evening, and be in town for our show the day after.

April 4, driving to Nice

Morning found us, as usual, organizing the van to hold all our equipment for the drive.

Stopping on the way, in a cafe near Torino ... a rabbit is a pretty rare sight in cafes!

(April 5th:)

We're staying in Nice, the gig is nearby, a nice theater called Le Cedac de Cimiez.

How big was that rabbit?....

Pat is now singing one verse of Soup... something about a supercollider in Texas!

This was one of those nights my camera just couldn't get the exposure or focus right for the audience shots.

April 6, driving back to Italy for our gig at the Blue Note, in Milano

We've played here before - a nice club, usually for jazz, so it's all seated, and quite... classy for us to be in!!

I see mi amici Michele Russotto and Paolo Costa in that photo... I should have joined them after the show for a nice night in Milano, but ... after packing up, too tired from all that driving. And an early flight tomorrow.

Time for page three of our tour diary -- next show will be in Barcelona.
